But I know that when I did have time on my hands I frittered most of it away uselessly. What I really need is motivation.

I can do description, and I can (I think) do plots. I'm not at all sure whether I can do realistic characterisation, but I suppose I should at least try.

(I can also do polemic, but I generally save that for messageboards.)
