Firstly, (after a lot of hard work and waiting) I have found myself a very nice new literary agent who is submitting my novel EYES OF A BOY to publishers. It is a wonderful feeling to have done my absolute best with a novel and for it to be out of my hands.
Now it’s time for new projects. I have written the first draft of a children’s novel (8 to 12 year olds) and I’m developing characters for my next adult novel. I love working with characters who have been simmering away in my head for years – it makes the whole process much easier. I am also preparing to publish my third booklet of short stories – written by my wonderful writing students. This year I have the largest amount of submissions ever (about 35) and I have a committee of helpful writers, and my husband, to share the editing, printing, advertising, promotion and design of the book. There is absolutely no way I could produce a booklet without them. Also Paddy, who runs the Skerries Book shop, promotes my classes and sells the booklet on our behalf, and the staff at Skerries Mill stay late after work to host the launch. Last year the manager, Ray, made delicious mulled wine for the occasion and I hope to persuade him to do the same this year (this time I won’t be driving!).
The launch takes place in Skerries Mills on Thursday 16th December at 5p.m. All are welcome. We’d love a big crowd!
I’ll be back soon this time. I promise!
