Creative Writing Summer Camps Online 2024 - for ages 10+

I am offering online creative writing summer camps this July and August.

These camps are aimed at 10 -15 year olds and will take place on the video conference platform, Zoom. They run for two hours every day for one week.

Mystery Story Writing Camps. 10.30a.m. - 12.30p.m

This camp is about writing a great mystery story. Participants will create detectives, victims and suspects, and learn how to write an intriguing mystery / crime story.  Topics include: setting the scene, plot, creating surprising twists and hooking your reader.

  • Mon 8th – Friday 12th July
  • Mon 12th – Friday 16th August

Time Travel Story Writing Camp. 10.30a.m. - 12.30p.m.

This camp focuses on stories about characters traveling backwards and forwards in time (like my novel The House on Hawthorn Road). Topics include character  creation and development, story planning, setting the scene, showing not telling and how to grip your reader!
  • Mon 22nd - Friday 26th July

My aim for the week is for everyone to have fun writing and to be inspired to continue long after the course. There will be individual writing, pair work and group work.

There will be a ten minute break every day.

In order to get the most out of the class,  I recommend that students use a tablet or laptop rather than a phone.

 I offer verbal feedback during class or in individual breakout rooms (if a student prefers).

For those who would like written feedback (by email) on stories (up to 2,000 words) there is an additional charge of €35.

  • The cost for a week-long summer camp is €145 (with verbal feedback on writing).
  • The cost of the week-long summer camp + written feedback by email is €180.

Refund Policy

Should a participant need to cancel 30 days or more prior to a course or event, they will receive a refund minus the booking fee of €25

Cancellation or transfer requests made 29 days or less prior to a course or event will not receive a refund.

Transfers to alternative courses cannot be guaranteed 29 days or less prior to the original course or event booked.

Minimum Numbers

In the unlikely event that there are not enough participants to run the course, it will be cancelled.
A full refund of fees will be issued, or you will be offered a space in an alternative course of your choosing (subject to availability).
