RTE Guide /Puffin Short Story Competition for Youth

There are three categories for individuals to enter and the story can be whatever you want to write about: funny, serious, scary or adventurous. Each story should be original and unique to
the student. The story cannot have been published before e.g. in students’ Christmas book.

•7-10 yrs old – up to 400 words (with an illustration or picture, if you want!)
•11-14 yrs old – up to 750 words
15-18 yrs old – up to 1000 words

Prizes for the Winners and Runners-up

Each Category Winner will have their story published in an issue of the RTÉ Guide.
The Winners will also receive a Kindle E-Reader and a hamper of books.
The two Runners-up in each category will receive their own hamper of books.
The Winners and Runners-up in each category will receive a free annual subscription to the RTÉ Guide.
The Winners and Runners-up, along with their parents, will be invited to attend an awards ceremony in RTÉ!

How to Enter

Entries can be submitted via email or post and must include your name, age, full postal address, email address and telephone number and AGE on the entry.
Email entries should be emailed to rteguidepuffinshortstory@gmail.com with ‘RTÉ Guide / Puffin Young People’s Short Story Competition’ in the subject line. Note, stories must be copied and pasted into the body of the email or attached as a Word document only.
Postal entries should be posted to ‘RTÉ Guide / Puffiin Young People’s Short Story Competition’, PO Box 1480, RTÉ, Donnybrook, Dublin 4.
Entrants under the age of 18 must have signed parent/guardian consent to enter
Should be original, unpublished and previously not broadcast short
Closing date is 5pm on Friday March 23, 2018
